Type as a program
·        In 1967 Wim Crouwel published designs for a “new alphabet” and these were constructed from straight lines. He then looked past tradition and moved to displaying his letters on video screens.
·        The tools of typography were given more light in the mid 1980’s with the help of printers and personal computers.
·        Zuzana Licko started creating typefaces in 1985 with the help of desktop systems that had a rough grain design.

Typefaces on screen
·        Verdana/Georgia, designed by Matthew Carter, 1996.
Anti-aliasing: Changes the brightness of certain pixels within the lettering creating smooth curves.
Bitmap: A set amount of pixels that are displayed on screen to create a certain typeface.
